Many disabled people are faced by a range of barriers from entering the work environment and there is not any one group or organisation who can deal with multiple needs. The B to E project was needed to develop this type of holistic integrated and strategically managed concepts, using partnership approaches, together with all stakeholders in developing a trans European Learning partnership
Levels of qualifications are a barrier to many people working / upskilling. The link between unemployment and low academic achievement has been clearly demonstrated in a number of National and EU reports. Statistics show that there is deficit in ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) skills in the community, linked to minimal business / entrepreneurships start ups
These lead to low levels of confidence, poor skills and low qualifications that prevent disabled people from finding or remaining effective in employment. The Barriers to Employment project addressed these barriers by providing opportunities for people with a wide ranger of disabilities to communicate with each other, through the support of organisations to investigate new methodologies, introduce accessing the labour market.
